“This newly built, beautiful home is located in Crested Butte, Colorado. It was built on a ridge with amazing views and presented great landscape design opportunities. The property owners wanted a low maintenance and natural landscape design.
Functionally, the driveway needed a large boulder retainer wall due to the slope and concern for erosion. Pockets of soil were provided in between many of the boulders for the purpose of planting perennial wildflowers and ground covers. Improving the soil allowed us to grow native grasses and wildflowers over the entire property. Planting the perimeter with native shrubs and perennial wildflowers helped break up the horizontal lines of the house and makes the house looks like it is part of the natural environment. Tall trees were installed without blocking the amazing views which gives the property spectacular fall color.”
